eBook Addicts reviews Lucky G and the Melancholy Quokka

Lucky G and the Melancholy Quokka is a truly delightful and wonderfully illustrated book that is aimed at children who have depression. In the current climate of lockdowns and pandemics this book couldn’t have come at a better time, and as a sufferer of depression myself it is often hard to explain to my kids what it feels like and that is OK to not feel ok.

We all know the Quokka to be the happiest looking animal in the world, but when Dr Lucky G find out about one who is struggling he flies off to Australia in order to help him out. The illustrations and characters as well as the rhyming prose will captivate children and adults alike making this a wonderful and engaging story for both. The use of a Quokka animal in this book was genius as it just shows that even the happiest of people can feel sad sometimes and that is OK to talk about it.

Therapists' Acclaim for Adopting a Child with Trauma...

"The subtitle of this little book is apt: it is a practical guide. If you are considering adopting, read it first. It may well put you off, but that's better than taking in an already troubled child, only to pass the load on to someone else, causing another experience of rejection and loss for the child."
--Robert Rich, PhD. anxietyanddepression-help.com

"Anyone adopting a child with a history of trauma will find this in work a wealth of practical advice. Its very shortness is a virtue when parenting is already so demanding. Effective parenting, including adoptive parenting, comes out of knowledge and understanding was well as love. Theresa Fraser cuts to the chase with just what you need to know to be prepared to meet the challenges of adopting a traumatized child."
-- Marian K. Volkman, editor of Children and Traumatic Incident Reduction
