Lake Superior is more than a body of water--it's a force of nature, a keeper of memories, and an enduring source of inspiration. In Feet in the Waves, thirty-six poets from across the Lake Superior region and beyond explore the lake's many moods: its icy grandeur, hidden dangers, quiet beauty, rich history, and deep emotional resonances.

From rocky shorelines and agate-strewn beaches to shipwreck legends, all interwoven with moments of spiritual reflection, these poems capture the unique relationship between people and the largest freshwater lake on Earth. With striking photographs by Arthur Durkee, this anthology invites readers to experience Lake Superior through a variety of perspectives.

Whether you know the lake well or have yet to encounter its vast horizon, Feet in the Waves offers a lyrical and unforgettable journey into Lake Superior.

Featuring the work of Martin Achatz, Jennifer Elen Bríd, Susan Carnes, Paula Cisewski, Ted Cornwell, Shel Danielson, B. Harlan Deemer, Arther Durkee, Chad Faries, Lisa Fosmo, Deborah K. "...the anthology's greatest accomplishment is reminding us that Lake Superior provides inexhaustible inspiration. Every contributor discovers a different shoreline, a different season, a different emotional current. Together they create a literary circle tour around the greatest of the Great Lakes--one that reveals not only the geography of Superior, but also the interior landscapes of those who love it." -- Victor R. Volkman, Superior Reads

"Feet in the Waves: Poems of Lake Superior is the type of book you can savor for a long time, a few poems tonight, some tomorrow, then next week, next month, dawdling through it, savoring pieces over time to let them sink in, drawing you into the depths of Lake Superior herself. Just remember to come up for air once in a while so you can continue to swim through the pages." -- Deborah K. Frontiera, UP Book Review
